About Institute
Gramonnati Mandal’s agricultural education journey began in 1990 with the establishment of the Vidyamandir Agriculture Department. The initiative was guided by Shri K. C. Meher, Shri Anantrao Kulkarni, Dr. M. N. Dange, and Shri A. G. Meher, who laid a strong academic and infrastructural foundation.
In 1991–92, a one-year Gardener Training Certificate Course was started with the approval of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. The training centre gained statewide recognition through a Doordarshan Mumbai programme titled “The Path of Development”.
In 1993–94, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University granted recognition to the Open Agricultural Education Centre, enabling students from deprived sections to pursue agricultural education.
Further expansion took place in 1995 with the approval of an Agricultural Diploma College by MPKV, Rahuri, creating wider access to agricultural education for rural youth.
In 2012, Gramonnati Mandal established the Agriculture Polytechnic under the Agricultural Technology Diploma scheme and soon secured a place among the top ten agricultural polytechnics in Maharashtra.
In 2019, a fully English-medium Agriculture Polytechnic (Three Years – Six Semesters) was approved by the Government of Maharashtra. Students are eligible for direct admission to the second year of B.Sc. Agriculture. From 2015 to 2025, 91 students qualified for degree programmes.
